Quit Qui Oc Golf Club (Elkhart Lake, WI)
Quit-Qui-Oc Golf Club is known throughout the state as a fun golf course, featuring 27 holes set in the beautiful rolling hills of the Northern Kettle Moraine. Players of all ability levels will enjoy the layout, friendly staff, course conditions and casual, clubhouse atmosphere. Their professional staff will make you feel welcome whether you are playing a relaxing round with friends or a corporate event.
Insider tip: It is important to keep the ball below the pin on the greens. Shot placement off the tee is valued over length, as is the ability to hit your irons off uneven lies.
Whistling Straights (Cleveland, WI)
Whistling Straights offers two courses of dynamic contrast and world-class prestige. Arguably the greatest championship course in the United States, The Straits® has hosted the 2004, 2010, and 2015 PGA Championships and the 2007 U.S. Senior Open. It is proud to be the future site of the 43rd Ryder Cup September 21st-26th, 2021. It is sculpted along two miles of the Lake Michigan shoreline and is defined as open and rugged with a windswept terrain. The grassland and dunes aspect of The Irish Course make for a deceiving tranquil landscape scattered throughout four winding streams.
Insider tip: Your tee shot is the most important shot. You do not want to get caught in a dune or bunker; they are severe and playing a second or third shot can be challenging.
Blackwolf Run (Kohler, WI)
Two Pete Dye designed 18-hole courses consist of The River Course and The Meadow Valleys Course. The River is both subtle and devilish, ranking in at #15 in Golf Digest’s 2019/2020 America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses. The Meadow Valleys course winds through meadows and charges across ravines reflecting the natural features of the Wisconsin terrain. Blackwolf Run has hosted several professional championships including The Andersen Consulting World Golf Championships in 1995, 1996, and 1997, as well as the U.S. Women’s Open in 1998 and 2012.
Insider tip: If you are looking for a break from the difficulty of Whistling Straights or The River course, the Meadow Valleys fits the bill. The fairways are more generous, and it is a little more straightforward.
The Bull at Pinehurst Farms (Sheboygan Falls, WI)
Built on the former Pinehurst dairy farm, The Bull is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in the state and was recently ranked the #3 course in Wisconsin (behind The Straits® Course at Whistling Straits and the River Course at Blackwolf Run). This beautiful course offers a variety of risk reward holes that blend naturally with the wetlands, woodlands, and rivers that fill the 400 acres. It has been a tournament venue for the Wisconsin State Golf Association and the Wisconsin PGA Section.
Insider tip: Overlooking the 9th and 10th holes, Jack’s Grill is a great place to meet friends for a drink and dinner while watching golf or a big game.
Autumn Ridge (Valders, WI)
Centrally located between Green Bay, Appleton, Fond du Lac, and Milwaukee, Autumn Ridge is only a short drive away. Opened in 1996 and designed by Ernie Schrock, Autumn Ridge has become known as the hometown location for golf the whole family can enjoy. The scenery is half the joy of playing this course. It is known for elevation changes, twists and turns, narrow approaches, on top of a breathtaking landscape.
Insider tip: Unwind after your round and revisit your conquests from the course at their on-site Legend’s Bar & Grill, serving everything from appetizers to world-class sandwiches.
